How to Install a Free SSL Certificate via Plesk

Every CyberNet hosting plan includes free SSL certificates powered by Let's Encrypt, so there's no reason for your site to run without HTTPS. Here's how to turn it on.

Why HTTPS Matters

SSL certificates encrypt data between your visitors and your server, display the padlock icon in browsers, and are a confirmed Google ranking factor. Modern browsers also flag non-HTTPS sites as "Not Secure," which can scare away visitors and customers.

1. Installing the Certificate

1. Log into Plesk and go to Websites & Domains.
2. Click SSL/TLS Certificates for your domain.
3. Click Get it Free under the Let's Encrypt section.
4. Check the boxes for your domain and the www. subdomain (and any other subdomains you use) so they're all covered.
5. Click Get it Free to issue and install the certificate — this takes about 30 seconds.

2. Forcing HTTPS Redirection

Having the certificate installed isn't enough — you also want visitors automatically redirected from http:// to https://:

1. In Websites & Domains, click Hosting Settings for your domain.
2. Check Permanent SEO-safe 301 redirect from HTTP to HTTPS.
3. Click OK.

3. Automatic Renewal

Let's Encrypt certificates are valid for 90 days, but Plesk automatically renews them before they expire — no action needed on your part as long as your subscription stays active.

Troubleshooting

• Certificate issuance fails: make sure your domain's DNS is already pointing to your CyberNet server — Let's Encrypt needs to verify domain ownership over HTTP first.
• Mixed content warnings: after enabling HTTPS, update any hardcoded http:// links or images in your site's code to https:// (or protocol-relative //).
• "Not Secure" still showing: clear your browser cache or wait a few minutes for the redirect to take effect.
