How to Set Up Email Forwarding and Autoresponders

Published on Jul 29, 2026 Updated on Jul 29, 2026 0 views

Whether you're consolidating multiple addresses into one inbox or heading on vacation, Plesk makes both email forwarding and autoresponders easy to set up.

Setting Up Email Forwarding

  1. Log into Plesk and go to Mail.
  2. Click on the email address you want to forward.
  3. Open the Forwarding tab.
  4. Check Switch on mail forwarding and enter the destination address.
  5. Click OK.

You can forward to any external address (Gmail, Outlook, etc.) or to another mailbox on your own domain. A copy can also be kept on the server if you enable Keep a copy of forwarded messages.

Setting Up an Autoresponder

  1. In Plesk, go to Mail and select the mailbox.
  2. Open the Auto-Reply tab.
  3. Check Switch on auto-reply.
  4. Write your subject and message (e.g. "Thank you for your email. I'm currently out of office and will respond by [date].").
  5. Optionally set a start and end date so it turns off automatically.
  6. Click OK to activate.

Good to Know

  • Autoresponders typically only reply once per sender within a 24-hour period to avoid mail loops.
  • You can combine forwarding and auto-reply on the same mailbox.
  • Remember to disable the autoresponder when you're back — it's easy to forget!
