Not every email address needs its own full mailbox — forwarders and autoresponders handle two common needs without the overhead.
What a Forwarder Does
A forwarder routes mail sent to one address directly to another mailbox, without creating a separate inbox to check. It's ideal for addresses like sales@yourdomain.com that should simply land in an existing inbox.
Setting Up a Forwarder in Plesk
In Plesk's Mail section, choose Create Email Address, then select the forwarding option instead of creating a mailbox, and specify the destination address.
What an Autoresponder Does
An autoresponder automatically sends a reply to anyone who emails a specific address — commonly used for out-of-office replies, order confirmations, or an initial acknowledgment before a human responds.
Setting Up an Autoresponder
Within a mailbox's settings in Plesk, enable the auto-reply option, write your message, and optionally set a start and end date so it doesn't stay active longer than intended.
Combining Both
You can forward an address and still have it send an autoresponse, so a message like info@yourdomain.com both reaches your team's shared inbox and confirms receipt to the sender automatically.
