Website Not Loading? 8 Common Fixes to Try First

Before opening a support ticket, run through this quick checklist — it resolves the vast majority of "my website is down" cases in a few minutes.

1. Check If It's Really Down

Use a tool like downforeveryoneorjustme.com to confirm the site is down for everyone, not just you. Sometimes it's a local network or ISP issue.

2. Clear Your Browser Cache

Your browser may be showing a cached error page. Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5 or Cmd+Shift+R) or open the site in a private/incognito window.

3. Check Your Domain's Nameservers and DNS

4. Check for an Expired Domain or Unpaid Invoice

Log into your CyberNet client area and confirm your domain hasn't expired and your hosting invoice is paid. An overdue invoice can result in temporary service suspension.

5. Look for a Recent Plugin or Theme Update

If you're running WordPress or a similar CMS, a recent plugin/theme update is one of the most common causes of a broken (white screen) site. Log in via FTP or Plesk's File Manager, rename the suspect plugin's folder to disable it, and check if the site recovers.

6. Check Your SSL Certificate

An expired or misconfigured SSL certificate can cause browsers to block access entirely. Check SSL/TLS Certificates in Plesk for warnings, and see our SSL setup guide if needed.

7. Check Server Resource Limits

In Plesk, go to Statistics and check if you've hit your plan's bandwidth, disk space, or CPU limits — this can temporarily restrict access until the next billing cycle or an upgrade.

8. Review Recent Error Logs

In Plesk, go to Websites & Domains > Logs to view recent error logs. Look for the most recent PHP or server error — it usually points directly to the broken file or plugin.
