What Is Uptime?

Uptime is the percentage of time a server or website is online and functioning, as opposed to being down or unreachable.

Why It Matters

A 99.9% uptime guarantee allows for roughly 8.7 hours of downtime per year. The higher the percentage, the more reliable the hosting — every additional "9" meaningfully cuts allowed downtime.
