Migrating a live website feels risky, but with the right order of operations, your visitors won't notice a thing.
1. Set Up Hosting First, Switch Domain Last
Activate your CyberNet hosting account before touching your domain's DNS. This way you can build and test everything without any downtime risk.
2. Copy Your Files and Database
Download your website files via FTP from your old host, and export your database (usually through phpMyAdmin). Then upload the files and import the database into your new CyberNet account.
3. Test on a Temporary URL
Most hosts, including CyberNet, let you preview your site on a temporary URL before switching DNS, so you can confirm everything works correctly first.
4. Update the DNS Only When Ready
Once you've confirmed the site works, update your domain's nameservers or DNS records to point to CyberNet.
5. Keep the Old Host Active Briefly
DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours. Keep your old hosting active for a few extra days so no visitors see a broken site during the transition.
